Bravo Transport Services (“Bravo Transport”) engages in franchised and non-franchise bus services under two brands, namely New World First Bus Services (“NWFB”) and Citybus Limited (“Citybus”), servicing more than 1 million passengers per day.
Founded in 1979, Bravo Transport is a duopolistic player in the public bus services in Hong Kong SAR and it is Hong Kong Island’s largest bus company.
Bravo Transport owns and operates over 1,700 buses covering 210+ routes and employs over 5,000 employees in Hong Kong. Bravo Transport has sole franchise rights to operate routes on Hong Kong Island district, with a track record of continued renewal of franchise rights over the last 20+ years.
Bravo Transport was originally owned by NWS Holdings Limited and was sold to Templewater consortium in 2020.
Given the high population density and lack of alternate transport with highly limited car-parking space available, the Hong Kong general public is highly reliant on public transport, with 90% of the trips being done through public transport, of which buses are 34% of public transport ridership. The bus service is therefore of vital importance to both government and public interests, and highly resilient to economic cycles.
Bravo Transport has a good working relationship with the Hong Kong government as demonstrated by its track record in winning routes, renewing franchise agreement, further strengthening its market position.
Through the Templewater Network, Templewater brought in an operating partner Ascendal Group who has a successful track-record in franchise bus operations in Australia, Singapore and London to lead the business. Leveraging on Ascendal’s expertise in the industry, Templewater aims to apply best industry practices and delivers high-quality transport services to the general public in Hong Kong. This will be achieved by constantly improving operational performance, increasing efficiency and investing into technology and digitalization.
Furthermore, Templewater is committed to supporting Bravo Transport’s sustainability agenda, with the intention to accelerate the transition towards zero or low emissions transportation infrastructure in line with the government’s targets, based on battery, hydrogen, hybrid and other new technologies. This transition will future-proof Bravo Transport, for the benefit of its customers, employees, society and partners across the region.
